Lucid Air & Gravity Delivery Date
Aimed at combating range anxiety and providing the first electric car to achieve a 500-mile drive on a single charge, the Lucid Air is an EV line worth talking about. Reportedly comparable to (and some fans say superior to) the Tesla Model S in many ways, the Lucid Air is a luxury sedan with serious acceleration and style. But in our current electric vehicle market, how long does it take to get a Lucid Air in your garage?
Lucid Motors delivered their first EV to customers nearly a year ago in the October Lucid Rally, and several thousand of Lucid’s EV sedans have been produced to date. With nearly 12 months on the market, Lucid is still taking on new reservations with delivery estimates into the next year.
In today’s blog post, we’ll take a look at Lucid’s current offerings, reservation and delivery times for each Lucid Air trim in 2022 and 2023, and where you can find a Lucid Air right now.
Lucid Air Dream Edition Delivery Estimates
As the first run of the Lucid Air lineup, this limited edition version of the Lucid Air was only available for reservation prior to April of 2021. The Dream Edition is sold out, but delivery has taken over a year from reservation to delivery, or 3 months from an actual VIN assignment to delivery. Plenty of factors have affected delivery dates for the Dream Edition, not the least of which have been the global supply chain issues that are continuing to wreak havoc across the industry.
The Dream Edition split into two additional options, Range and Performance. Both were produced and delivered in tandem, and only 520 were made. At this point, delivery of the Lucid Air Dream Edition in either option is nearly done (or may already be finished at the time of writing).
Lucid Air Pure – Delivery Dates
At the time of writing, reservations for the 2022 Lucid Air Pure are still open, but no deliveries have been made. Production on the Pure is expected to begin this quarter (Q4 2022), and delivery for this trim of the Lucid Air is expected in early to mid 2023.
Since the single motor option is not currently an option on any of the Lucid Air trims already in production, you can expect to wait even longer than Q1 of 2023. We would estimate that this option will put you back into receiving a VIN in maybe Q2 OR Q3, but even that estimate assumes a lot of growth in the Lucid production line.
Lucid Air Touring – Estimated Delivery Dates
Like the Pure, the 2022 Lucid Air Touring is still accepting reservations, but deliveries haven’t been made just yet. However, production and delivery is expected to start soon (Q4 of 2022), and should slowly start increasing in number over the next few months. Currently, most of Lucid’s production is focused on current orders for the Grand Touring.
If you made your reservation after August 10, you can also opt to add the Stealth Look package, but that will delay your delivery somewhat, possibly by a few months.
The 2023 model of the Touring is expected to be announced by December of 2022, but so far no solid date has been set. If Lucid treats this situation the same way that Ford does with its Mach-E, reservations for the 2022 Lucid Air will likely be converted to the 2023 model at the start of next year.
Lucid Air Grand Touring – Delivery Estimates
There are two versions of the 2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring: the Base model, and the Performance Model. The Grand Touring Base model was put into production earlier this year, and deliveries are ongoing.
The Grand Touring Performance model was introduced back in April of 2022, and production is well underway with deliveries happening in tandem with the Grand Touring Base model. Current reservations are seeing about 2-3 months from VIN assignment to Delivery, or 4-5 months from Confirmation to Delivery in some cases.
If you’ve reserved the Lucid Air Grand Touring after August 10 and want to place your order with the new Stealth Look package, your Grand Touring will likely go in for production and delivery in Q1 of 2023.
2023 Lucid Air Sapphire – Delivery Estimates
Lucid’s newest offering, the Lucid Air Sapphire, is also the highest performance trim of the Lucid Air Lineup. With 1,200hp and a 0-60 time of less than 2 seconds, the Lucid Air Sapphire is what YouTube Channel Extra Throttle House calls “an absolute monster.”
When will we see the Sapphire out on the road? Current production for the Lucid Air Sapphire is scheduled for as soon as Q1 of next year (2023), with delivery times expected to start soon after that (late in Q1 or Q2 if all goes smoothly). Adding the Stealth Look package may delay production or delivery by a few months, but we’d expect even that combo to be ready by Q3-Q4 of 2023.
What about the Lucid Gravity SUV? Current Production and Delivery Estimates
While it’s not a part of the Lucid Air lineup, we wanted to add a little note about Lucid’s electric crossover SUV. If you’re hoping that the Lucid Gravity SUV will be a better fit for you than the Air, you’ll need to stay patient a little while longer.
Plans for the all-electric SUV crossover are still about a year out. The Lucid Motors SUV is expected to stay on par with the Air as far as luxury and performance goes, but we know very little else about it yet.
Current speculation says that the Lucid Gravity will be offered next year, in 2023, with deliveries beginning in 2024-2025. That’s assuming a settling of supply chain upsets for the automotive industry, of course, but having watched the production numbers of the Lucid Air slowly rise, we remain hopeful that they will be able to begin production on schedule.
How To Check on Your Lucid Air Delivery
At the time of writing, Lucid does not have a way to track the status of your Lucid Air at any stage of the process from reservation to delivery. In fact, even logging in to the Lucid app is only possible after you take delivery of your vehicle.
Currently, Lucid’s entire process runs through their Sales and Delivery Advisors. A lot of that communication is through email, but the advisors are available to talk on the phone if you’d prefer it. If you are at the very beginning of your Lucid journey, Lucid’s Sales Advisors are the ones that will walk you through the reservation process.
When it’s time for your Lucid Air’s Order Confirmation, your Delivery Advisor will be available to answer any questions you might have. At this point, you’ll likely only be given estimates for production and delivery dates. More accurate numbers are available after your order hits production and after you are given your VIN.
Shipment and delivery are handled either by your Delivery Advisor or your closest Lucid Studio, and they will be the people with all your answers at this stage (in fact, they may have the only answers).
Lucid Motors deliveries are still a very personal experience. While we wish there was a way to check on a Lucid Air’s progress without bothering a Lucid Advisor, we’ve heard some pretty good things about the Lucid customer service experience. Keeping in contact with the Advisor you’ve been assigned to is the best way to stay up-to-date with your Lucid Motors delivery dates.
How to Get a Lucid Air Right Now
As of the time of writing, only the Lucid Air Dream Edition and the Lucid Air Grand Touring have been in production and delivered. Lucid’s delivery numbers are steadily growing, but they are still working out kinks in the production line. As a result, Touring and Pure are still waiting for their turn.
If you want a Lucid EV in the next few months, you may be able to get a reservation for the Grand Touring (Dream Edition reservations are filled and delivery for those limited 520 vehicles is wrapping up). All other editions of the Lucid Air aren’t scheduled to start delivery until very late 2022 or early 2023.
If you don’t want to wait that long, there is another way! Because the Lucid Air has been out for a year, you absolutely can find them used. The best part? Because a used Lucid Air is a year old at most, the majority of used Lucid Airs on the market will be in like-new condition.
